The Echelon Central Operating Group is the serialized foundation of Springfield Armory's Echelon platform, so it is the core piece your Echelon pistol is built around. It is offered in 9mm, the same caliber as every handgun in the Echelon series, so your ammunition stays the same across the family. Springfield Armory describes the Echelon series as modern, striker-fired duty pistols.

The modular Echelon ecosystem includes the Echelon Alpha, Echelon and Echelon Pro handguns, giving you several 9mm models that share the platform. The Alpha is positioned as the accessible entry point into that ecosystem, while the Pro is built on the proven Echelon platform with performance-focused features. Because the Central Operating Group is the foundation piece, you start from the core of the platform rather than from a complete pistol.
