The Sons of Liberty Gun Works MK1 Recce is an AR-15 rifle chambered in 5.56 NATO with a 14.5" barrel, and a pinned and welded HUXWRX flash hider brings the measured barrel length to 16". The barrel is a chrome-lined, medium-contour profile with P3 polygonal rifling, conservative port sizing and a .750" gas journal. It runs on a mid-length gas system, which the maker credits with smooth shooting, ammunition forgiveness and long barrel life. The upper, lower and 13.75" MK1 rail are billet, and an extended titanium barrel nut carries a coating meant to help with heat management.

Controls center on the Liberty 2-stage trigger, rated 4.5 lbs total, plus a Badger ambidextrous safety and an MK1 maritime bolt release. The Magpul DT-PR stock sits on a 9-position A5 receiver extension with an A5H2 buffer, and the rifle comes with a B5 grip. The 13.75" MK1 rail has a continuous Picatinny top rail, 7-sided M-LOK slots and built-in channels for routing light and laser cables. One 30-round Gen3 PMAG ships with the rifle, which is individually built, test-fired and finished in black anodized.
